Foray — Privacy Policy

The short version

Foray is offline-first and private by design. Your journal — entries, photos, notes, voice recordings — stays on your device. We don't collect, transmit, sell, or share your data. There are no analytics, no trackers, and no ads.

Photo library access

Foray reads your photo library so you can attach photos to journal entries and see gear statistics derived from each photo's embedded metadata (camera, lens, focal length). All of this processing happens on your device. Photos never leave it.

Microphone access

If you record voice notes, audio is captured with your permission and stored only on your device.

Location

Foray reads location data already embedded in your photos to place entries on the map. The app does not track your location.

Purchases

Subscriptions and purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. Foray never sees your payment details. Purchase state is verified on-device via StoreKit.

Your data, your export

You can export your complete journal (entries, photos, notes, voice recordings) at any time from Settings — free, regardless of subscription.

Changes

If a future feature changes how data is handled (for example, optional iCloud sync of your journal to your own Apple account), this policy will be updated and the change called out in the release notes.
